One of the more powerful experiences I have as a dance photographer is working with talented dancers, choreographers, and artistic directors who are passionate about their work and using dance to do good in the world, to inspire.
Joy-Marie Thompson does just that in Interpretations, an exhibition of my photos of Joy-Marie, at The Purchase College PepsiCo Theatre Performing Arts Center, that re-imagines classic photos of African American dancers in her image.
The photography exhibition is on view tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Lift Every Voice event and I encourage all of you to explore it, in celebration of Black History Month, the beauty of dance and the power of photography.
